EMR vs. EHR
Both are electronic records, however, one is a “health” record and the other a “medical” record. What is the difference?

EMR

An EMR is an application used by Doctors (HCPs) and other clinicians to store, organize, and access all patients’ clinical data for a particular hospital or practice.  In other words, the application used by an entire practice or hospital to legally store patient records electronically.

EHR

An EHR is a patient centric application where long-term and aggregate health information from one or more encounters in any health care delivery setting is stored.  Because an EMR only stores data from a particular hospital or practice, an EHR allows a patient to store data from any health care delivery encounter.

WebDMEMR is one of few web based applications that offer both EMR and EHR functionality. Because WebDMEMR is a web based application, patients and HCPs can access their health and medical data from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. WebDMEMR’s EHR function enables patients to share past data with the physicians of their choice so that they can receive the high quality medical care that they deserve. As an EMR, WebDMEMR allows Health Care Providers to deliver the highest quality of continuity of care. With features like “Business Associate Agreement”, various health care delivery centers can legally share and access specific patient information. This capability allows health care professionals to minimize errors in overall care giving, coding, billing, and prescribing.
